Brenda Cannon has often been described as a pioneer, trailblazer, and person of influence. Her professional career has always been a stream of steady progression. Brenda’s first job was the Herald Chronicle where she learned every aspect of the newspaper industry and gained respect from the local business community. Her creativity and excellence in customer service soon landed her a job at Henley Supply, Inc. as the marketing director. As Brenda’s public relation skills grew, so did her professional opportunities. Since 1993, Brenda has been the “official voice” of Motlow State Community College, serving as Director of Community Relations.
Working at a community college has been a wonderful experience for Brenda because she is able to mentor and encourage students. Brenda has been a guiding light to many women, young and old alike. She has helped them pursue their educational dreams and make them realities. In March of 2006, Brenda was unanimously selected to become a University of Tennessee leadership facilitator by the University of Tennessee leadership facilitator’s staff. Brenda is the first community college professional and first female to ever receive this prestigious honor. Brenda’s creativity, excellence, and initiative to excel in her professional life has been a positive influence for everyone. Brenda’s philosophy in life is simple: if it means anything to you, pass it on. As time moves on, Brenda continues to do just that; she passes on her zest for life and her passion to serve.
